Best of the Class - Jacquelyn WIthey, Nick Clabo

In this week's Best of the Class, we visit Sevier county for a lesson on balancing academics with athletics.

Senior Nick Clabo has worked hard throughout his high school career, both on and off the baseball diamond. But he says balancing both is equally important. "Its not easy. In baseball you really want to be dedicated, but you have to take care of your school work."

Nick says he knows just how important school work is for establishing a more successful future. "I think a lot of people get caught up in high school, they just look at what's going on right now, and they really can't see the big picture."

That "big picture" is exactly what classmate Jacquelyn Withey has had her eye on for all of her academic career. After graduation she plans to focus on her dream of being an author, which she knows is a challenging career to enter.

She says confidence to pursue her goal comes from the inspiration of her teachers. "Sticking out to me right now? I'd probably say Susan South is a big one. She's so confident in all of us and she's very 'you can do it, you can do this!' Just the fact that she so enthusiastic about what she's doing."

Congratulations, Jacquelyn Withey and Nick Clabo for being this week's Carson-Newman University's "Best of the Class."
