At the moment, it seemed like a decent idea. Five minutes later it was quite possibility the most boneheaded move I've made in a long time. My thoughts early Monday morning as I opened the garage door, were something like.."If I can get out of the neighborhood, I can get to work." There were already a few inches of snow on the ground and more was falling. Still, I was confident I could get up a short steep hill on my drive, and slowly wind my way down and out of my neighborhood. Have you ever had a moment of clarity? A moment where you suddenly saw everything incredibly clear? Me too, and that moment was about 30 seconds after leaving my drive. My vehicle of choice these days is not a rough and tumble SUV. It's quite the opposite. A small, two door, convertible. Oh, it's great when the sun is out and the temperature is 75 degrees. But put it on a few inches of snow, going down and incline, and you've got yourself a sled! My white knuckles and automatic braking system succeeded in getting me out of the neighborhood with no crashes. However, I worked up a nice sweat in the process. Lessons learned too. I've already planned for Nate, and his 4WD, to pick me up Tuesday morning. What lessons have you learned in this winter weather?
