Memory Links, Alzheimer's 7th annual fundraiser

"Nanny!" That's the excited greeting my grandmother always gets. But, this time I got, "Nanny, that sounds familiar" in response. The woman who lived with my family for several years of my childhood, who I would have the best slumber parties with, who loved my sister and I dearly, didn't even know her own 'name.'

Golf is a sport I've always wanted to try, but I just know I'll embarrass myself and/or hurt someone.  :)

BUT, when you tell me a day of golf and family friendly events is all a fundraiser for Alzheimer's, I'm there!   Why?

"Nanny!" That's the excited greeting my grandmother always gets.   But, this time I got, "Nanny, that sounds familiar" in response.   The woman who lived with my family for several years of my childhood, who I would have the best slumber parties with, who loved my sister and I dearly, didn't even know her own 'name.'

My grandmother may still be alive, but Alzheimer's has already taken her away from me.   It is a terrible disease, and everyday I learn more and more about it, thanks to Alzheimer's Tennessee Inc.  Everyday they offer support services, guidance, and fund research, and so much more.   But, they couldn't do it without fundraising, and every dollar stays in East Tennessee.

Monday August 22nd, I will host the Memory Links Golf Classic at Gettysvue Country Club, in West Knoxville.   From 10 a.m. to Noon, a silent auction will begin, a putting contest, and 30 teams will register.   The tournament will start at Noon, and after everyone is welcome to attend the 19th Hole Reception and the silent auction, at 6 p.m.

I hope you'll be able to attend.  I know days like this mean so much to my family, as we hope and pray for a cure for Alzheimer's.
