Event Dates and Times
Tennessee Theatre, 604 S Gay Street, Knoxville, TN
The Tennessee Theatre announced today that screenings of “It’s a Wonderful Life” will return Sunday, Dec. 10, at 1 and 5 p.m., continuing a tradition in which thousands of guests have enjoyed the classic holiday movie inside the historic venue. The 2017 event is sponsored by Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union. “Showing ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ around the holidays has become such a special tradition in our community,” said Becky Hancock, executive director of the Tennessee Theatre. “This event aligns perfectly with our mission to provide free community events so everyone can experience the magic of the theatre.” The free event puts moviegoers in the holiday spirit while they also enjoy the beautiful Tennessee Theatre. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase in the lobby. Doors open at noon and 4 p.m. for the two screenings. “We are delighted to be the presenting sponsor of this year’s showing of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’” said Kristina Howard, marketing director for Knoxville TVA Employee Credit Union. “The Credit Union has been part of the East Tennessee community since 1934, and we always enjoy giving back to our hometown, especially around the holidays when friends and family are in town, too. The Tennessee Theatre is such an important piece of East Tennessee history, and everyone deserves an opportunity to experience its grandeur.” Released in 1946 and starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, “It’s a Wonderful Life” is a bittersweet comedy/drama about George Bailey, a compassionate but debt-ridden manager of a bank in typical small-town America; an angel helps him realize his importance in the world. This event is open to the public, and no tickets are required. Doors open one hour prior to each showing. For information on parking, visit parkdowntownknoxville.com. About the Tennessee Theatre
