The Steering Committee of the Knoxville Hola Festival is pleased to announce September 27-28 as the dates of the 2014 Hola Festival and the location this year to be at the Market Square in downtown Knoxville.
Local 8 News Morning Anchor, Marco Villarreal will be making announcements and introducing performers at the Festival. He will also host several segments on the news leading up to the festival, previewing all it has to offer!
This will be the 15th year of the Hola Festival celebrating the diversity of the culture of our region through exciting and informative showcases, traditional and authentic Hispanic foods, and other cultural and artistic presentations.
New this year, the 2014 Hola Festival will include a two-day event in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Festival. The “Kick Off” festival activities are scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 27th lasting until 10:00 PM. The evening festivities include the featured band “Orquesta de Jaime Bonilla” and the Nashville Rueda Dance Extravaganza.
The full festival continues on Sunday, September 28th with a special family celebration beginning at 11:30 AM featuring the traditional and colorful Parade of Nations at 3:00 PM. The Hispanic bands scheduled to perform include the Marcel Portilla Band and the Asheville Tango Orchestra. And there will be plenty of traditional foods and exhibits as well as featured performances by the Cazateatro-Bilingual Theatre, the Street Circus, and Lucia Arte Y Pasion Plamenco. The festival will conclude by 6:00 PM.
The primary purpose of the Hola Festival is to promote unity in the community between Latinos and the larger community by encouraging education, participation and leadership. For additional details, go to http://holafestival.org.
