The park is recruiting volunteers for the unique experience of providing visitor information at Clingmans Dome.
At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is both the highest point in Tennessee and the highest point in the park.
Visitors are rewarded with spectacular 360° views of the Smokies and beyond for those willing to climb the steep half-mile walk to the observation tower at the top.
Volunteers are needed to provide valuable trip planning information and orient visitors to the unique high-elevation community. Volunteers in this position are part of a very special, hardy group as they encounter extreme weather conditions even during July in the high elevations, but they are also rewarded with incredible views, wildlife viewing opportunities - especially when the blackberries are ripe and the bears frequent the path, and the opportunity to share their passion and love with the Smokies to our millions of visitors each year.
