Second Harvest East Tennessee receives $75,000 for Food for Kids program

Posted: 05/23/2014 - Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee today received a $75,000 contribution to assist with the Food for Kids – Backpack Program. The grant – which was given to the non-profit organization through the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program – will work to alleviate hunger for more than 10,000 school children every weekend.

Blount Partnership and Alcoa Foundation providing internships for unemployed youth

Posted: 05/02/2014 - The youth unemployment rate in the county served by the Blount Partnership is 24.2 percent. As a participant in Alcoa Foundation’s Global Internship Program for Unemployed Youth, Blount Partnership will receive $125,000 to provide a customized workforce development program for 60 unemployed youth. To deliver the program, the Blount Partnership is collaborating with the Adult Education Foundation of Blount County.
