David Aldrich joined WVLT-TV as Chief Meteorologist in May 2010.
David Aldrich holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the American Meteorological Society (AMS), which is a professional recognition of the quality of his weather broadcasts. David also holds the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association (NWA).
David began his weather career in Raleigh, NC, at WNCN-TV. David then worked as the Weekend Meteorologist at WSAZ-TV in Huntington-Charleston, WV, and then as the morning and noon meteorologist at WHAM-TV in Rochester, NY, where he forecasted lake effect snow for four years. David got to return to his hometown area in 2005, when he was hired as the Weekend Meteorologist at FOX 29 in Philadelphia, where he worked for four years.
David is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a B.S. degree in Meteorology as well as B.A degree in Radio, T.V. and Motion Pictures from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Once a member of the Screen Actors' Guild, David guest starred on an episode of "Matlock," appeared in the movie "Dead Poets' Society" as a featured extra, and starred in a Veterans' Life Insurance commercial with Roger Staubach.
David was married to his wife Stephanie in 2000 and they have two daughters. During the summer of 2014, he got a new dog, half golden retriever, half yellow lab, named Dew Point (aka "Dewey").
David loves to visit schools and encourage young people to learn about math and science.
