NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Shannon Baxter of Indianapolis, Indiana, was traveling along on I-24 in Coffee County with a passenger on Nov. 7 when he was pulled over by a state trooper for a traffic violation.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Baxter did not cooperate with the state trooper's questioning. This along with the passenger's behavior led the trooper to conduct an investigation of Baxter's Chevrolet Malibu.
THP said Baxter denied the request to search the vehicle. The Coffee County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and deployed their K-9, which discovered drugs in the car.
Law enforcement conducted a search that led to the discovery of meth packaged in five separate containers and concealed behind the back seats in the trunk.
Both Baxter and his passenger, Chanel Satter of Indianapolis, Indiana, were arrested without incident on felony meth trafficking charges.
