'Spider-Man' comes to the rescue during attempted purse-snatching

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -- Raymond Evans was in the right place at the right time last Monday morning to help a woman save her belongings from being robbed.

"In the long run, if this happened to my grandma or mom, I wish somebody would help them, and I wish that God would provide an angel to be there and look out for my family members," Evans said.

Evans works as a garbage man in Lincoln, Nebraska and in his free time, he also enjoys training as a mixed martial arts fighter.

Those in Lincoln now know Evans as Spider-Man.

"Being that neighborhood friend that people wish they had," said Evans.

Evans said he was working near a Walgreens when he heard a woman scream for help. A 54-year-old woman was outside the store when she said a woman came from behind and tried to steal her purse.

"She was kicking and hitting and punching me to let go," said the victim, who did not want to be identified.

That's when Evans jumped into action.

"I got on top of her held her down, and some other gentlemen came over from across the street and called the police," said Evans.

The victim now calls Evans her hero.
