(CBS) -- Though Apple has not revealed what's on their showcase agenda, this is typically when the company unveils new iPhones.

Anticipation surrounds the event, which will be held on September 12, about whether Apple will show off a dramatically redesigned iPhone to celebrate the device's tenth anniversary.

The device does not have an official name as of now, but people have been referring to it as the iPhone 8.

It may have a number of new features such as dual cameras and Face ID facial recognition to unlock the phone. Apple is also reportedly getting rid of the Home button.

Reports indicate the new phone is expected to retail for about $1,000.

Other than the possible new iPhone, Apple is expected to announced upgrades to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. CNET says a new LTE-equipped Apple Watch and 4k-ready Apple TVs are expected as well.
