Arrest made after threat to Midway High School

ROANE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- 18-year-old Houston Knight was arrested on February 16 for allegedly reporting a false online threat to Midway High School.

This arrest made is in connection with the investigation reported on February 10 by Local 8 News reporter Lauren Davis.

Roane County Director of Schools Leah Watkins said there was an investigation into a safety threat at Midway High School on Monday. At that time, Watkins would not give Lauren Davis details about the alleged school shooting threat due to the investigation.

Watkins added that there were never any guns found on the Midway High School campus. She addressed parents' safety concerns during the unexpected meeting in the Central Office parking lot.

Knight is accused of posting the threat Thursday, according to the Roane County Sheriff's office. If convicted, Knight could face a sentence of three to 15 years in prison.

He will be held in the Roane County jail pending a court appearance on February 24 unless he makes bond before that date. However, bond has not been set.
