Cat with nine lives saves nine puppies

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) Cali the calico brought new life into the world after nearly losing her own in the Gatlinburg wildfires.

"She came to us after the wildfire, we found her at West Gate roaming, took her in, and nurtured her," said Daniel Langston, Director of Pets Without Parents.

She was rescued by Pets Without Parents and now, with four kittens of her own, Cali is returning the favor for those who need her help.

"We got a call that a mom dog passed away during the labor of her nine puppies, and we really didn't know what to do," Langston said. "But then it just popped in me head, 'well, we have a mom cat.'"

Cali stepped up and nursed the nine puppies along with her four kittens.

"They all started nursing, and she just sprawled out like, 'I'm a mom, this is what I was meant to do,"" said Langston.
