Dancing For the Horses event marks record fundraising

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Dancing For the Horses event raised a record amount of donations for Horse Haven of Tennessee. The event raised $115,500, surpassing last year's amount of $95,000.

Ronda Landsman raised more than $50,000, the most of all nine dancers.

Local 8 News Meteorologist Heather Haley also did well with fundraising, bringing in $3,500 for the organization. Heather performed a pirate-themed routine, complete with costumes, a treasure chest of booty and even a sword fight.

Saturday evening's event took place at Bridgewater Place and paired professional dancers with local celebrities to compete on the dance floor and raise money for Horse Haven of Tennessee.

The evening included dinner, a silent auction and a photo booth with Twinkie, the Horse Haven mascot.

The winners were announced, and the Isaac Award was presented to the dancer with the highest total of dancing scores and fundraising efforts.

At the end of the night, standing ovations were given to Patrick Hutchins, a board member of the organization, and Sarah Van Sickle, for their exciting performances.

Local 8 News was well-represented at the event, with attendance from producers, administrative staff and anchor Amanda Hara serving as emcee of the night.
