KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- You might decide to go ice skating to cool off in the summer, but on winter days, inside at the rink could be warmer than the weather outside.
"It kind of throws you off, especially when it's 30 degrees, so you're already cold in here, but then you walk outside and you're like, 'Oh, wow it's so much colder,' so it's a little different," said Ronald Cohorst, Cool Sports staffing and event manager.
Cohorst told Local 8 News the ice rink is around 30 degrees, while temperatures have been in the teens outdoors.
"It's affected by the outside temperature quite a bit, so if it's been in the single digits it can get closer to 20 degrees in here," Cohorst said. "During the summer time, it can get closer to 50 degrees inside."
Cohorst told Local 8 News heaters were installed in the locker room and bleachers, but no air conditioning units.
"A lot of the weather you get inside this room is from the ice," Cohorst said.
