Five-year-old mauled to death by family's dogs

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) -- A 5-year-old child was attacked and later died of injuries from the family's two dogs in Montgomery County, CBS affiliate WTVF reports.

Emergency responders were called to the family's home on Charles Thomas Road in Clarksville Thursday morning at 8:20 a.m. Responders found the child had suffered extensive injuries from two six-month old English Mastiffs.

After being transported to Tennova Medical Center, the child died of his injuries.

Clarksville Police Department officials said the dogs were placed in the custody of Montgomery County Animal Control after the incident.
