KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Former Tennessee Vol linebacker A.J. Johnson was arrested Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence.
The Knoxville Police Department says Johnson was sitting at a traffic light at the intersection of Kingston Pike and Neyland Drive just before 1:30 a.m., and did not drive forward once the light turned green.
A KPD officer checked on the 2007 Chevy Tahoe, and found Johnson in the vehicle with bloodshot eyes, smelling out alcohol and marijuana, according to a KPD report.
After allegedly failing a field sobriety test, Johnson was arrested and charged with first offense DUI, failure to exercise due care, implied consent and simple possession.
Johnson is awaiting trial for charges of aggravated rape.
