(WVLT) -- Many American families struggle with finances during the holidays, but there are several programs in East Tennessee that can help make a difference.
Several services in and around Knoxville offer help to families in need during the holidays.
Care 365 donates food, clothing and toys to those in need at Christmas time. You can call them at 865-966-CARE or visit their website for more information.
Though the deadline for Christmas gifts closed, families in need may also apply for emergency assistance with The Salvation Army. Visit their website or call at 865-524-9401.
Families can visit Angelic Ministries or call their volunteer center at 865-523-8884 for information on how to get household necessities and food.
Children under the age of 18 who are clients can get gifts through Helen Ross McNabb's Dear Santa program. The center provides gifts to children who are clients and their siblings. Any clients looking for help can reach out to their case managers.
The Angel Tree program has locations throughout Knoxville and will match children in need with a donor.
For more assistance, reach out to 2-1-1 Tennessee. It is a community help line that will match up callers to community services based on their specific needs. All you need to do is dial 2-1-1.
