Kevin Lee Waggoner sentenced to 18 years for the 2013 murder of Michael Woodby

Judicial District Criminal Court Judge E. Shayne Sexton sentenced Kevin Lee Waggoner to 18 years to be served in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Corrections with no release eligibility. This comes as a result of a multi-day trial where Waggoner was convicted of Second Degree Murder.

The case was investigated by the Union County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Maynardville Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Indiana State Police.

Waggoner fatally shot his neighbor, Michael Woodby, in September of 2013 after a 3 year feud. Authorities said Woodby was shot during an altercation between the two men while walking in the 500 block of Highway 370.

Waggoner sent several media outlets, including Local 8 News, a package with a letter, several restraining orders and a DVD revealing the feud between his family and the Woodby's a week before the murder.
