Knoxville Power Squadron offering public boating course

LOUISVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Power Squadron is offering its third ABC3 Public Boating Course of the year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from August 29 through September 7. The class will be held from 6 until 8:30 p.m. each night in the Louisville Town Hall Building at 3623 Louisville Road in Louisville.

This course will cover the following materials:
Legally required safety equipment
Navigation aids
State and local regulations
Anchoring
Communications afloat
Tailoring
Knots and lines
Navigation rules
Lights and sound signals
Finding your way
Adverse conditions and emergencies
Water sports safety
PWC operation

The course will offer a free TWRA book, Boat Tennessee. A 270-page book and testing for the full ABC3 course will be offered for $37 per person or $47 if a couple shares one book.

The course will be taught by experienced, area recreational boaters who are certified instructors, and it will be supervised by the Knoxville Power Squadron Educational Officer, a licensed Coast Guard passenger vessel master.
