New app alerts parents on school bus location

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- Getting yourself back into the swing of things as school starts can be difficult, but did you know there's an app that can help you with that?

It's called Here Comes the Bus, a free app for parents that tracks their child's school bus.

"Here Comes the Bus is an app that allows you to check your child's school bus, current location and when it's going to arrive and get an ETA on where they're going to be," said John McCulley, Digital Media Manager at Moxley Carmichael.

Knox County Schools says they are the biggest school district using the app. Locally it uses a GPS system already installed on the buses. You'll need to get a code from Knox County Schools, you can find that on their website. Once you prove you're a parent, you can start tracking.

"You can't just get the app and start," said McCulley.

You can use it on your phone, tablet or personal computer.

"It's a good safety tool for knowing if the bus is running late you're not having to put your child out on the curb way before its time," he said.

Hopefully making your adjustments back-to-school hopefully a little smoother.
