New development breaking ground in Alcoa

ALCOA, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The site of the former Alcoa West plant will soon be seeing new development. A new project broke ground in Alcoa Monday with the aim to add new businesses and places to live.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, construction began to clear the way for roads and about 100 acres of land that will be used for immediate development.

The Executive Vice President of Resight Holdings told Local 8 News the project has been in the works for about 10 years. He said the end goal of the project is to create an exciting place for people to live, work, play and shop.
