KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A new painting of Peyton Manning has been damaged on the University of Tennessee campus.
An artist painted Manning's likeness on 'The Rock' on campus, but someone altered the painting, and some students said the act was disrespectful.
'The Rock' is one of the most iconic symbols at the university. Students told Local 8 News it represents their freedom of expression and adds to the sense of camaraderie on campus.
This time, one senior said a vandal went too far. Instead of adding to the painting, they said someone has destroyed it.
"Honestly, that just sort of sucks," said student Austin Brown. "I don't know what to say about it. I hate to say it, but I feel like you get numb to stuff like this happening because its happening more and more and more."
Brown said he welcomes freedom of expression, but not the idea of destroying someone's artwork.
