KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - When it comes to house hunting in Knoxville, the options are there. It's just about finding the right one.
"It's like a full-time job," said Brian Stovall.
Brian and Chelsea Stovall have been shopping for houses for the past six months. They've learned the hard way that sometimes what you see isn't what you get.
"We went to look at a house where the pictures had been actually edited with filters and we got there and it looked completely different," said Chelsea Stovall. "If it would have been a Snapchat video, that wouldn't have been as much as a problem."
Wait a minute...a Snapchat video?
Welcome to the digital age.
Colin Skinner, a realtor with the Nic Nicaud realty team of Realty Executives, has been giving tours of homes via Snapchat for several months now.
"As a realtor, your phone is always by your side. The first thing that comes to my mind, I just start recording and talking," said Skinner.
It's raw, uncut and often comes with a touch of humor.
"We always have our phones on us and it connects us way more. Instead of someone sending you an email, you're just going through Snapchat and seeing homes and it doesn't break your work flow," said Stovall.
"Social media has certainly changed the game," said Skinner.
Skinner's realty team said they hope that one snap at a time, they're proving what you see really is what you get.
"I think people appreciate that and it's what they're going to see when they come tour the house, so you might as well show them up front," he said.
The Nic Nicaud Realty Team also uses Facebook Live, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
