"Roseanne" releases trailer, date for revival

(CBS) -- ABC announced this week that new episodes of the popular 1990s TV show will arrive in March.

"Roseanne" will come back on March 27, according to ABC. Along with the arrival date, ABC released a teaser trailer that shows the sitcom will stay true to its roots.

The reboot will feature nine episodes and the complete original cast, including Roseanne Barr as Roseanne Conner, John Goodman as Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harries, Lecy Goranson as Becky Conner-Healy and Jayden Rey as Mary Conner. Sarah Chalke, who played Becky in later seasons, will come back in a different role.

On March 27, "Roseanne" will premier with a special hour-long episode at 8 p.m. After that, the show will air at 8 p.m. with half-hour episodes. Sandra Bernhard and Johnny Galecki will guest star.

Goodman discussed the reboot with CBS News and said, "I'm just so excited to get back together with this cast. I have no idea where we are going to pick up or what our circumstances are. I don't know if we still own the house. I mean, all the kids are gone so we are going to have the kids and the grandkids this time. It's just going to be totally new from the last time we left these guys. Last time we were seen were were in our 40's, and now we are not."
