State of Tennessee receives $4M grant for expansion of East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) ---- Tennessee is getting close to $4 million to expand the East Tennessee State Cemetery from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The cemetery is on John Sevier Highway in Knoxville.

The money is expected to help serve over 114,000 veterans and their families.

The grant will fund construction of roads, 2,509 pre-placed crypts, 3,292 cremains grave sites, 900 columbarium niches, landscaping, irrigation and supporting infrastructure.
