TBI investigating Dyer Co. officer-involved shooting

DYER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened early New Year's Day in Newbern, Tenn., that resulted in two police officers and one civilian being injured.

At around 3 a.m. Newbern Police Department officers were responding to a disturbance call at Douglas Cafe, a.k.a. "Betty's" in Newbern, where a New Year's Eve party was taking place. When officers arrived at the scene, shots were being fired, and two officers were shot, along with another individual at the location.

Both officers and the civilian were transported to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis for treatment. Their specific conditions were not available as of Monday morning.

The TBI Violent Crimes Response Team responded to the scene to collect evidence and document the scene.

The TBI did not identify the officers involved in the incident.
