KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Law students with the University of Tennessee are helping several in East Tennessee file their taxes.
Their program is called VITA, or volunteer income tax assistance. Every Tuesday and Thursday night between now and mid-April, students will spend two hours with those over the age of 65 or low income East Tennesseans helping them prepare their taxes.
The student's themselves have spent hours in training to make sure yours is done right.
Participants should arrive as close to 5:00 p.m. as possible and no later than 6:30 p.m. to receive assistance in a timely fashion, as space is limited each night. Appointments are not necessary, but services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Tax advice will not be shared over the telephone. Public parking is available in the Volunteer Hall garage, located directly behind the College of Law, on White Avenue.
