Jones talks quarterbacks and injuries

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- The injury list got a little longer Monday. Butch Jones announced wide receiver Latrell Williams and kick returner Evan Berry will both undergo season-ending surgery.

Jones categorized quarterback Jarrett Guarantano as "probable" for Saturday's game at Missouri. Guarantano was shaken up on his touchdown run during the first drive of the game. He came out for three plays in the second quarter. True freshman Will McBride filled in, and in doing so burned his redshirt opportunity.

Butch said Monday McBride wanted the chance to play and the players feed off of him, "Will has a unique personality in and of itself. He does not get rattled. He has very good poise, very good command presence. Our players believe in him, they get excited when he gets into the football game and we've seen that throughout the course of this entire season."

The fifth year head coach added he's been pleased with how much Guarantano has improved from week to week since he made his first start against South Carolina, "I was really pleased with the rhythm and the timing and the pacing in the throw game. He was much more decisive in the throws he seemed a lot more confident. I thought he really really showed great progress, he's going to do nothing but get better and better game in and game out."
