Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT)-- The TSSAA Board of Control voted Thursday to allow
Knoxville Catholic to move to Division-II beginning
with the 2019-20 school year.
The Irish, who won another public school state championship in football this season, are following the pattern of most private schools moving to Division-II.
Principal Dickie Sompyrac told local-8 sports today,"...We are looking forward to our future in Division II. We believe playing in this division is in the best interest of all of our students-athletes and families at Knoxville Catholic high school. We appreciate the TSSAA And the board of control for hearing us and granting our request.“
Again, KCHS will spend one more calendar school year in the public school division.
