KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A 13-year-old boy was taken to the hospital, after he was shot in an East Knoxville neighborhood.
Police say it happened just before noon on Parkview Avenue.
The boy was sitting on his front porch when he saw two young men walking up to the house, Police said. He tried to run inside, but was shot in the back by both suspects.
Police are still looking for the attackers, who ran east after the shooting. They describe them as two young black men, wearing dark clothing.
Ethel Minor said her sister lives in the house where it happened. The attack rattled their sense of security, she says.
"When we have something such as this coming into our community, we're scared to sit on the porch," she says. "And we're scared to sit outside."
Police told Local 8 News on Monday that the boy has been released from the hospital.
Minor's great-grandson was shot in the hand in March during a drive-by shooting not far from this one. She's had enough of the violence.
"This is a good, nice neighborhood. And these people here are older and retired," she says. "And they want to enjoy their life, the rest of their life. But I don't know, I don't know what the answer is."
Police ask anyone with information on the shooting or the suspects to call them.
