KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A 14 year-old boy was arrested for underage driving and possession of a firearm late Thursday night.
The teen is charged with Disregarding a Stop Sign, Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, Theft, Possession of a Firearm with Intent to go Armed, Driving without a License, according KPD spokesperson Darrell DeBusk.
According to police, an officer pulled over the car he was driving shortly before 10:00 p.m. near the intersection of Callaway Street and W. 5th Ave. After pulling over, the teen allegedly slipped into the back and one of the girls in the car moved into the driver's seat.
When he went to get out of the car after not being able to produce a license, authorities said, he struggled with the officer and tried running away on foot.
He was quickly rounded up and police discovered he already faced charges of Aggravated Burglary and Possession of a Firearm.
Police also found a loaded, stolen Hi-point .380 handgun they said he dropped when getting out of the car.
