OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Oak Ridge authorities have identified an 18-year-old man as a suspect in a car fire at Linden Elementary School on March 8.
Officers reviewed video surveillance from Linden Elementary School that showed a man walking towards the car with a brick in his hand.
The Criminal Investigations Division later determined that the suspect was possible an Oak Ridge High School student.
School Resource Officers then positively identified the suspect as Jovon Brooks, who lives in the neighborhood surrounding Linden Elementary.
Detectives interviewed Brooks, who confessed to starting the fire. Other intentionally set fires in the area of Linden Elementary are also under investigation and may possibly be linked to the vehicle arson.
Charges are pending upon presentation of the case to the Grand Jury.
The investigation remains ongoing.
