CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Chattanooga have released the names of the adults who were among five people shot in a home Sunday night.
The department stated in a news release Monday morning that 22-year-old VanDaryl Rivers was pronounced dead at a hospital. Another victim remained in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the neck. He is 19-year-old JerMicahel Smith.
Daniel Smiley, who is 25, was taken to a hospital with a wound to the wrist.
A 17-year-old boy and a male toddler just shy of his third birthday were treated for minor wounds and released. Police said bullets grazed the juveniles.
Witnesses said a man armed with what police said was an assault rifle ran from the scene and got into a small white car.
Police are trying to identify suspects.
