KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A trial date has been set for two men charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of a young mother of newborn twins.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reported 22-year-old Lavonte Dominique Simmons and 24-year-old and Shawn David O'Neill were arraigned Wednesday in Knox County Criminal Court. They are charged in the June 7 killing of 21-year-old Uniqua Brown as she ran across the lawn of her home.
The trial was set for Dec. 9.
Prosecutor Leslie Nassios revealed motive when he said in court that the slaying was in retaliation for the robbery of Simmons' brother the night before.
