HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Hawkins County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in gathering information on an aggravated robbery and attempted murder.
It happened at a home on Looney's Gap Road in Surgoinsville last Wednesday.
Deputies say Leonard Gilreath and his wife Sheila were returning home when they noticed a vehicle was parked in their garage.
Gilreath told officials he noticed two people in his carport trying to load items from his home, and that's when the suspects got in their truck and tried to get out of the garage.
The vehicle side swiped the garage wall on the passenger side and also hit the Gilreath's vehicle on the driver's side.
Deputies say the suspects also hit Gilreath with their vehicle, knocking him to the ground.
The vehicle is described as a maroon Chevrolet full size pick-up truck with the year model being around 2000. The vehicle will have new damage to the driver's side and passenger side, with the passenger side mirror being torn off.
The suspects are described as white males approximately 5'-10" tall. One of the suspects had a short beard and the other was clean shaven.
There was also a tool belt found at the scene that had fallen from the suspects' vehicle. The suspects have possibly been in the area working as sub-contractors or doing handy-man jobs.
The incident is being investigated as an attempted murder, in addition to the aggravated burglary.
