KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Hamblen County sheriff's department has arrested 23 people in a "warrant roundup."
The department says officers on patrol usually serve 250 to 300 warrants a month, but there are still 3,737 unserved warrants in the system. They include failure to appear, probation violation and child support warrants.
The Hamblen County Sheriff's department assigned depities approximately 80 warrants to serve, most for violation of probation and child support.
Deputies hope the increased pressure drives people with outstanding warrants to turn themselves in rather than risk being arrested at work or at home.
