JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Johnson City say two men who claimed their car had been stolen before it crashed into another vehicle were lying.
Police charged 46-year-old Jimmy Lee Enoch of Gray and 57-year-old Jeffrey Lynn Trapp of Coeburn, Va., with making a false report. Enoch is also charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
The crash occurred at a Johnson City intersection, according to the Johnson City Press.
The men told police hitchhikers they had picked up on Sunday carjacked them, but witnesses at the crash scene said it was Enoch and Trapp who fled the scene after the accident. Both are due in court Tuesday. Jail records don't indicate whether they have lawyers.
