KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Three men have been arrested in connection with a recent string of robberies and burglaries, the Knoxville Police Dept. announced on Tuesday. Late Tuesday morning, while trying to locate the suspects, an officer spotted them near a home on Connecticut Ave. and called for backup when they started to run away.
Police eventually caught up with and detained Christopher Whitaker, 29, and Dustin Bowling, 27, near Louisiana Ave. and Johnson Street. Whitaker was charged with robbery and evading arrest, while Bowling faces two counts of burglary, vandalism, and evading arrest charges.
During the arrest, authorities said they learned of a third suspect driving around in a recently stolen 2005 BMW, who was also suspected of several other crimes in the area around Sunflower Drive and Kim Watt Drive. Police later saw the suspect running away from the BMW and alerted other officers in the area. Dylan McNish, 20, was later captured on Johnston Street and charged with Auto Theft. Police added that more charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
