NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Nashville police say a 4-year-old boy witnessed the slaying of his stepfather while the two were on a four-wheeler.
Officers said Tuesday the boy was not hurt when 22-year-old Thomas Rutledge was shot outside a public housing development Monday night.
The motive for the slaying remains under investigation. Police said they were pursuing leads.
Officers said Rutledge has an arrest history of 42 offenses since 2007. He died at the scene.
