4 charged with pirating DVDs in East Tennessee

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Four people from East Tennessee have pleaded not guilty in federal court to charges they made and sold more than $300,000 worth of pirated movies on DVD.
An indictment returned last week by a federal grand jury in Greeneville charges Richard and Melissa Arnold of Elizabethton, Kristen Bailey of Erwin and Reginald Garner of Johnson City with conspiracy to infringe copyrights and conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit labels.
According to the U.S. attorney's office for the Eastern District of Tennessee, the indictment claims the DVDs were sold over the past five years in the Tri-Cities area.
Defendants could face five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted. A trial is scheduled for July 21.
