JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say they have taken out an elaborate indoor-growing marijuana operation with the arrest of a Washington County couple and the seizure of $500,000 worth of pot.
On Tuesday police arrested Jonathan and Toni Aloisio at their home in Limestone and charged them with multiple felony drug offenses, weapons violations and aggravated child abuse and child neglect.
The couple's three children were removed from the home and taken into the custody of the state Department of Children's Services.
Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal said in a news release that investigators were overwhelmed by the smell of marijuana when they went to the house to follow up on an investigation.
Graybeal said officers seized 285 marijuana plants, 6 pounds of processed marijuana, powdered cocaine, psychedelic mushrooms and 13 guns.
