Five former Grainger Co. jail employees arrested

RUTLEDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Five former employees of the Grainger County Jail Detention Center were arrested Thursday and face various charges.

Joshua Cory Bumgardner is charged with Official Oppression and Official Misconduct. He is behind bars on a $10,000 bond.

Jessee Cummings is charged with two counts of Sexual Contact with an Inmate, Official Misconduct, and Official Oppression. His bond has been set at $50,000. Cummings is named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by three former inmates who claim they were sexually assaulted while in jail.

Jacob Scott Layel is charged with official misconduct and theft of property under $500. Layel's bond has been set at $10,000. He is the son of Grainger County Sheriff Scott Layel.

Tyler Matthew Farrow is charged with Introduction of Contraband and Official Misconduct. His bong has been set at $10,000.

Michael Alton Sane is charged with three counts of Bribery, three counts of Permitting or Facilitating Escape, six counts of Official Misconduct and one count of Accessory After the Fact. His bond has been set at $50,000.

All five men are set to be arraigned January 27 at 9:00 a.m.

The TBI, Grainger County Sheriff's Office, and other agencies conducted the investigation.
