KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Carter County planning director has been charged with falsifying time sheets.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a criminal summons for Christopher Schuettler of Elizabethton on Tuesday.

A news release from the TBI states Schuettler is a salaried county employee who is charged with making compensatory time claims for hours he did not work.

He is charged with one count of theft over $1,000 and is scheduled for arraignment July 19.

A telephone message was left Wednesday at Schuettler's office seeking comment on the charge.
