Charges dropped against one brother in an Oak Ridge murder

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT)--First degree murder and especially aggravated robbery charges were dropped against James Stephan Brooms.

According to Brooms' attorney Kevin Angel, the state wasn't ready to proceed.

Angel says he thinks the charges were dropped because there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute his client.

Brooms' was charged in the shooting death of 22 year-old Antonio Phillips at Rolling Hills apartment in Oak Ridge.

Brooms' brother 21 year-old Brandon Brooms was apprehended Thursday by the FBI and still faces charges of first degree murder and especially aggravated robbery charges.

James is being moved to Knox County Jail on pending charges of violating probation.

He will be back in court Monday morning at 9 o'clock.

His brother brandon is set to appear in court later this month.
