Chattanooga warrant operation collects 19 suspects

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Chattanooga Police say several law enforcement agencies have rounded up suspects in violent crimes during a warrant sweep.

Sgt. Jerri Weary says 19 people were arrested on Monday, seven of them associated with gangs. The operation was designed to serve outstanding warrants and find violent offenders.

Besides city police, the operation involved the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, the East Ridge Police Department, the Chattanooga Housing Authority and four state and federal enforcement agencies.
