CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP/WVLT) -- Police say a Clarksville man has been charged in the death of his mother.
A police statement says 42-year-old Lee Dewayne Watts was arrested early Saturday and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of criminal homicide in the death of his mother, 60-year-old Ethel Adamson.
Police say Adamson was found on April 7 in her home, alive but unconscious, and suffering from a head wound. She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but died two days later.
Police say their investigation found that Watts hit Adamson in the head with a hammer, and then left with money that belonged to her.
It was unclear whether Watts has obtained an attorney.
