Crimetracker: Undercover operation leads to arrest in Cocke County

COSBY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Cosby man is behind bars after a year long investigation in Cocke County.

According to the Sheriff's Department, undercover agents repeatedly bought marijuana from Lemuel Garver, 67. Investigators say he is part of a larger conspiracy to sell illegal drugs in Cocke County.

Authorities searched Garver's Middle Creek Road home and surrounding buildings Friday. They found 49 individually wrapped bags of what they believe is marijuana. They also found a set of digital scales commonly used to appropriately weigh Marijuana for resale.

Investigators say Garver has been selling marijuana for about two years.

Garver was convicted of Criminal Negligent Homicide in Cocke County in 1993. Though he's not supposed to own weapons, officers found 20 firearms including shotguns, rifles, and pistols in his bedroom. A Marlin rifle was found in an outside storage building as well. Several of the guns were loaded, some with a live round in the chamber. Ammunition was stored throughout the home as well.

Agents seized all weapons from the scene, as well as a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass, 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche, 2002 Honda Civic, 2006 Honda Ridgeline, 2006 GMC Envoy, and over $13,000 cash.

Garver was arrested at the scene and taken to jail. He is charged with Possession of Schedule VI for resale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and 21 counts of a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
