KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Safe says it was another successful holiday season.
Officers with the Holidays Task Force arrested 347 people and recovered in excess of $60,000 in stolen property between November 25 and December 27, 2013.
Deputies say shoplifters were caught with merchandise ranging from $1.60 to $15,000.
The task force also took up other duties. They served a number of outstanding warrants and arrested one man on a charge of being a fugitive from justice out of Florida. They also wrote over 100 traffic citations.
Having officers at major shopping centers also helped deter residual crimes such as car burglaries and purse snatchings.
The first year of the task force, 267 people were arrested and 328 were arrested in 2012.
