OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An ATM in Oak Ridge was targeted by would-be thieves early Christmas Morning.
Police responded to the Y12 Federal Credit Union ATM at 467 Oak Ridge Turnpike around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The suspects used a stolen truck to try and knock the ATM off the concrete pad. When that didn't work, police say the criminals used a stolen Bobcat bulldozer. As they tried to push the ATM to a nearby field, the machine flipped over and was demolished.
Police say the would-be thieves did not get any money from the ATM. The damage to the the truck, Bobcat and ATM is over $50,000.
Investigators say the truck and Bobcat were stolen from Waste Connections.
